​As the small team entrusted with carrying out the daily operations of the Dave & Cheryl Duffield Foundation, we are consistently reminded of the privilege it is to support Dave and Cheryl’s philanthropic vision.

 

Their commitment to the causes they support goes beyond financial giving; it is rooted in a desire to make a meaningful impact for pets, people, and communities across the United States. They've turned animal shelters into innovative spaces of healing and hope. They've built an elite Service Dog breeding and training center. They've provided resources for schools to become world-class environments for learning and development. And they've strengthened various public service institutions to better serve their communities.

Driven by their love for their family dogs and birds, Dave and Cheryl’s dedication to animal welfare stems from a promise they made to their first four-legged family member, a Miniature Schnauzer named Maddie: If they ever had the resources, they would give back to Maddie’s kind so other families could experience the same joy they had with her. That promise came true when they founded Maddie’s Fund in 1994. Today, Maddie’s Fund is a national voice in the well-being of shelter animals.

Their support of U.S. veterans stems from a deep love for their country and a profound gratitude for those who serve. Dave and Cheryl both have family members who have served in the military, further strengthening this personal connection. 

Their public service projects are often a way of expressing appreciation for the role these institutions play in strengthening communities.
