Research Grants

A key element of the Duffield Big Bet for Pets’ long-term strategy is building an enabling environment that surrounds and supports organizations working to make veterinary care more affordable and accessible. A critical component of that enabling environment is a robust knowledge base.

An accessible knowledge base that includes both research-based evidence and practice-based insights can help organizations develop, adapt, and scale interventions that address barriers to veterinary care and expand access in their communities. To build this knowledge base, Big Bet for Pets will invest at least $25 million over the next five years through grantmaking focused on:

  • Research

  • Formal program evaluation

  • Dissemination and Implementation (D&I) efforts

These grants will be awarded through a combination of open-call

funding opportunities and partnerships with trusted organizations

and institutions. The first open calls focused on knowledge-base

development are expected to launch in winter 2026.
