Expanding Access Grants

Flexible, multi-year funding for established community-based veterinary clinics that are ready to expand pet care capacity or services.

We believe that narrowing the veterinary care access gap requires the growth and scaling of nonprofit organizations that have a proven track record of providing affordable veterinary services for families in need.

If your organization has provided affordable veterinary services for family pets for at least three years and you can demonstrate readiness for growth, the Duffield Expanding Access Grant can support your expansion plans. This grant is flexible and recognizes that there are many different paths to growth for different clinics -- and different needs in each community. This open call closes on December 16, 2026.

We envision supporting organizations with these kinds of transformations:

  • Adding new service lines: For example, a spay/neuter clinic that is ready to add in wellness care or heartworm treatments.

  • Expanding service days: For example, an organization that has been operating a monthly pop-up vaccine clinic that is ready to move to weekly services.

  • Expanding service delivery: For example, an organization with a brick-and-mortar clinic that is ready to add a mobile clinic or a second physical location.

These grants are intended to empower your organization to take action to expand capacity. You might use these funds for salaries, equipment, supplies, technology, renovations, vehicles, or other costs that are required to expand your services.

How to Apply

Simply click the button below to be transferred to our grants portal, where you will create a profile and manage your grant application(s).

Because these grants are unique to your organization and community, we request that you complete a pre-application that describes your project and your readiness for growth. (This is in place of a traditional Letter of Inquiry, or LOI.) This pre-application will ask you to describe your planned expansion, how your organization assessed client or community need for this expansion, and your organization’s readiness for this expansion.

Please note: This specific grant opportunity is for established organizations that have already engaged in planning and due diligence to ensure they are ready for an expansion of services.
